Psychologist Richard Wiseman, conducted research by asking more than 6,000 people about their perceptions of the most popular first names in the UK over the past decade, along with those in recent years. Some strong trends emerged.

Whilst Lisas and Brians are perceived as unsuccessful, Helens and Johns are most unlucky, and poor Georges and Anns are least attractive, according to perceptions recorded in the study.

You are not stuck with the names your parents gave you though. An adult in the UK can quickly and easily change their name by deed poll for only £9.99 - which ’successful’, ‘lucky’ or ‘attractive’ name would you like to be known as?
