High Court win may force change to Gender Recognition Act.
Many EU countries began recognising transgendered people’s rights five years ago, but this recognition has yet to permeate the UK.
“Dr Lydia Foy, born Donal Mark Foy, changed her name by deed poll in 1993; however the issue of alterations to her birth certificate and divorce, for which she filed for in 2006, have been held up until now.”
That may be about to change following the recent High Court ruling, which will have repercussions in the whole of the UK.
